June vehicle sales in Thailand up 5.7%, June production down 2.5%

According to MarkLines Data Center, June vehicle sales in Thailand increased 5.7% year on year to 69,794 units. January - June sales were up 11.2% to 409,976 units.
By brand sales in June, Toyota was down 16.0% to 17,892 units. Honda was up 28.7% to 12,878 units and Isuzu was down 0.3% to 11,139 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 35.8% to 5,580 units, and Nissan sales were up 37.1% to 4,944 units.
By body type, passenger car sales were up 15.6% year over year to 29,424 units, while commercial vehicle sales were down 0.5% to 40,374 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were down 3.2% to 31,044 units. The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) said that domestic sales in June increased on the back of launching of new models, recovery of tourism industry, and investment from the government.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in June was 175,443 units, a 2.5% decrease year on year and a 3.5% increase month on month. January - June production was down 4.3% to 950,966 units.
Vehicle exports in June were 93,086 units, down 13.0%, valued at  THB 49.7 billion, down 13.6%. Vehicle exports from January to June were down 9.8% to 536,406 units.
The FTI's automotive industry club expects to revise down its car production forecast in 2017 to 1.9 million units from 2 million. The club will revise down its 2017 vehicle shipment forecast as well to 1.077-1.088 million units from the earlier 1.2 million.
