June sales in China: all four Japanese OEMs keep y/y increases

By July 6, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and Mazda announced their sales results in China for June 2017. Sales at all four companies increased year-over-year (y/y), with Honda, Mazda and Toyota achieving double-digit increases. Nissan obtained the top June sales ranking among Japanese automakers.
Nissan announced that it sold 118,769 vehicles in China, which was a 8.9% rise y/y contributed by strong sales of Teana, Sylphy, X-Trail and Qashqai. The company’s year-to-date (YTD) sales from January reached 650,525 vehicles, up 6.7% y/y.
Toyota sold approximately 106,900 vehicles, a 10.0% increase y/y. The automaker enjoyed strong sales of models including the Crown, Corolla and RAV4. Toyota’s YTD sales reached 624,000 vehicles, up 5.4% y/y.
On July 4, Honda announced the record June sales at 113,769 vehicles in China, which was a y/y increase of 17.7%. By model, strong sales of the Civic, Accord, Jade and XR-V contributed to sales growth. Honda’s YTD sales reached 644,167 units, up 18.7% y/y.
On July 4, Mazda announced that the sales for the month in China at 23,172 units, growth of 15.1% y/y. Sales increased thanks to strong demand for CX-4 and Atenza. The automaker’s YTD sales reached a record high of 135,540 units, up 15.3% y/y.
