German car sales fall 8.0% in April

On May 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 290,697 new passenger car registrations in April, an 8.0% decrease from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 56,506 units (19.4% market share) decreased 12.5% in April compared to the same month in 2016.
Audi sales of 26,781 units (9.2% share) decreased 10.0% from last year.
Mercedes sales of 27,029 units (9.3% share) decreased 10.1% in April.
Opel sales of 19,350 units (6.7% share) decreased 14.2% from last year.
BMW brand sales of 20,114 units (6.9% share) decreased 14.0% from the same month last year.
Ford sales of 21,410 units (7.4% share) decreased 6.8% in April.
Sales of 23,047 trucks in April represented a decrease of 10.1% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 641 buses represented an increase of 3.2%.
In April, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 55.9% market share, diesel vehicles had a 41.3% market share, and alternative fuel vehicles had a combined 2.8% market share.
