On May 2, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 160,359 units in April decreased 4.6% from the same month last year.
For the first four months of 2017, passenger car registrations of 743,321 units increased 8.0% over the same period in 2016.
Domestic brand sales decreased 3.9% in April with a 29.4% market share, while foreign manufacturer sales decreased 4.9% with a 70.6% market share.
In April, Fiat brand registrations decreased 6.0% (21.0% market share), Renault registrations increased 13.8% (7.6% share), Volkswagen brand registrations decreased 13.0% (6.9% share), Ford registrations decreased 4.1% (6.9% share), Opel registrations decreased 10.7% (5.0% share), and Peugeot registrations decreased 7.8% (5.2% share) from a year ago.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that diesel passenger car sales in April increased 1.1% (58.3% share), gasoline-powered car sales decreased 15.5% (31.5% share), hybrid car (HV) sales increased 53.8% (2.9% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales decreased 2.1% (0.1% share).
Private car sales in April decreased 17.1% to 86,740 units (53.9% share), fleet sales increased 6.4% to 41,250 units (25.6% share), and business sales increased 24.8% to 33,050 units (20.5% share).
