Italian car sales increase 6.2% in February

On March 1, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 183,777 units in February increased 6.2% over the same month in 2016.
Domestic brand sales increased 7.1% in February with a 29.4% market share, while foreign manufacturer sales increased 5.8% with a 70.6% market share.
In February, Fiat brand registrations increased 6.1% (21.2% market share), Renault registrations increased 4.1% (5.6% share), Volkswagen brand registrations increased 5.7% (7.3% share), Ford registrations increased 1.6% (7.0% share), Opel registrations increased 2.8% (5.4% share), and Peugeot registrations increased 2.7% (5.5% share) from a year ago.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that diesel passenger car sales in February increased 5.7% (56.0% share), gasoline-powered car sales increased 4.9% (33.3% share), hybrid car (HV) sales increased 49.2% (2.9% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales increased 26.9% (0.1% share).
Private car sales in February declined 2.5% to 105,778 units (57.2% share), fleet sales increased 6.3% to 45,555 units (24.6% share), and business sales increased 43.9% to 33,700 units (18.2% share).
