Spanish car sales increase 9.3% in December, 10.9% for 2016

On January 2, the automobile manufacturers association of Spain (ANFAC) announced that passenger car registrations of 96,886 units in December 2016 represented an increase of 9.3% over December 2015.
Full-year sales of 1,147,007 units in 2016 represent a 10.9% increase over 2015.
In the month of December, SEAT sales decreased 22.9% to 4,875 units, Opel sales increased 26.7% to 6,151 units, Renault increased 55.4% to 10,124 units, the Volkswagen brand increased 7.5% to 7,559 units, and Peugeot increased 3.6% to 7,871 units.
The best-selling cars in December 2016, in order of popularity, were the Renault Megane, VW Golf, Renault Clio, Citroen C4, Hyundai Tucson, and Nissan Qashqai.
Of all vehicles sold in December, diesel vehicles had a 56.0% market share, gasoline vehicles had a 40.4% share, and hybrid car (HV) and electric vehicles (EV) combined had a 3.7% share.
