Exclusive Interview
Sango Co., Ltd.
Director Mr. Tetsuya Watanabe
About This Interview
As regional differences emerge in the progress of vehicle electrification and demand forecasts for internal combustion engine components become uncertain, how can suppliers whose main products have been exhaust system components establish their next pillar while maintaining the profitability of their existing businesses? Sango Co., Ltd. (Sango) is simultaneously redefining its four core businesses, exhaust systems, battery-related products, body and chassis, and precision steel products, and expanding into areas outside the automotive sector.
In FY 2025, the company’s consolidated net sales (including customer-supplied materials) were JPY 640.6 billion, net income was the highest ever at JPY 18.8 billion, and the company is ranked second in Japan and sixth in the world among exhaust system suppliers.
At Sango’s ECO 35 facility (Atsuta Ward, Nagoya City), built on the site of the former head office plant, we spoke with Director Tetsuya Watanabe about "ECO-Sango” (Sango's commitment to the environment), the roadmap for its four business areas, production and development allocation, DX promotion and logistics improvements, and business diversification policies.
