On March 7, General Motors announced it will lay off 80 workers at its Pontiac Metal Center by the end of April in connection to its plan to idle the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant, where it builds the Chevrolet Volt electric hybrid and Buick LaCrosse sedans.
