1911 Torbensen Gear and Axle Co. was incorporated in Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
1971 Company name was changed to Eaton Corporation.
2001 Sold its automotive Vehicle Switch/Electronics Division (VS/ED), a manufacturer of electromechanical and mechatronic controls for automotive applications, to Delphi Automotive Systems.
2003 Formed Intelligent Switchgear Organization LLC, a joint venture with Catapillar Inc.
2004 Formed a joint venture with Changzhou Senstar Automobile Air Conditioner Co. Ltd. in China.
2004 Formed a joint venture with FAW Jiefang Automotive Co.,Ltd., in Changchun, China.
2005 -Completed purchase of Tractech Holdings, Inc., a US-based manufacturer of specialized differentials and clutch components for the commercial and specialty vehicle markets.
-Purchased Mexican automotive lifter manufacturer Morestana S.A. de C.V.
-Completed purchase of Brazilian powertrain manufacturer Pigozzi S.A.
2007 -Purchased the fuel components division of Saturn Electronics & Engineering, Inc.
-Sold its mirror controls division, part of the Company's automotive group
2008 -Acquired the engine valves business of Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd.
-Formed a joint venture, Nittan Global Tech Co., Ltd. with Nittan Valve Co., Ltd. of Japan.
-Acquired Integ Holdings Limited, the parent company of Integrated Hydraulics Ltd., a U.K. manufacturer of screw-in cartridge valves, custom-engineered hydraulic valves and manifold systems.
