-Effective Jan. 1, 2009, Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. (BSAH), the parent company of the Bridgestone Group's tire operations in the Americas, was changed to Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (BSAM).

-The Company intends to make Firestone a global tire brand by 2019. The Company will clearly differentiate its two brands, the Bridgestone and the Firestone, by positioning the Firestone below the Bridgestone. By improving the brand image, Bridgestone hopes to increase Firestone tire sales.

History

1988 Bridgestone Corporation purchased The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company.
1990 Corporate headquarters for the merged Bridgestone and Firestone companies moved from Chigago to Akron, Ohio. Bridgestone' and Firestone operations in the Americas were consolidated as Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.
1990 The Company finished building a production facility in Warren County, Tennessee.
1992 The Company's corporate headquarters moved from Akron, Ohio to Nashville, Tennessee.
1994 The Company's Warren County plant in Tennessee became the first U.S. tire plant to meet the ISO9000 quality standard.
1999 The Company opened a passenger and light truck tire manufacturing facility in Aiken County, South Carolina.
2001 Bridgestone Corporation's Americas operations were reorganized in an effort to focus more effectively to do business in the Americas under a holding company structure with Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. (BSAH).
2004 The Joliette plant in Quebec, Canada turned out its 100-millionth tire.
2006 The Aiken County plant in South Carolina, USA produced its 50-millionth tire.
2007 Bridgestone Firestone do Brasil Industria e Comercio Ltda inaugurated its second Brazilian facility in the state of Bahia.
May, 2007 Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. acquired Bridgestone Bandag, LLC.
2009 Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. (BSAH) was changed to Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (BSAM).
