Denso Group (China) Business Report FY ended Dec. 2018

Recent Development

-On May 26, 2019, the Management Committee of Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technical Development Zone and Denso (Guangzhou Nansha) Co., Ltd. signed an investment agreement. Denso Guangzhou Nansha will build a new 100,000-square-meter factory in the southern part of China, investing at least CNY 2 billion. Construction work is scheduled for Jun 28, and the new factory is going to have a car component plant, a quality test center, a warehouse and logistics center, parking lots, and an office area. The new plant will produce car electronic components such as in-vehicle computers. Denso aims to launch operations in 2021 and mass production in 2022. (From some media reports on May 28, 2019)

Strategic Cooperation

-In November, 2017, GAC Group announced that it signed a strategic cooperation memoradum with the Company. The partners will collaborate in climate control products, powertrain systems, electronics, motors, inverters, heat pump systems, heat management products such as battery cooling systems, driver assistance systems, and autonomous driving technologies. They will also strengthen cooperation in nurturing human resources. (From the Company's press release on November 29, 2017)

New Plant

-Denso Corporation announced that it has established a 50-50 joint venture with Kingtec Technologies (Heyuan) Co., Ltd., a Chinese refrigerator systems manufacturer, in Heyuan, Guangdong Province, China. The new company, Guangdong KINGTEC DENSO Refrigeration Equipment Co., Ltd., will develop, manufacture, and sell refrigerator systems for trucks and other applications. Production is scheduled to start in May 2016. The new company is capitalized at CNY 30 million (approximately USD 4.8 million), of which 50% was provided by Denso’s regional headquarters in China, Denso (China) Investment Co., Ltd., and 50% was provided by Kingtec. It will have a workforce of approximately 140 employees at the start of operation. (From a press release on March 25, 2016)

New Product

-Denso announced that it will operate a booth at 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. Toward the realization of a future mobility society, Denso is focusing on electrification, advanced safety, and vehicle connectivity. With regard to electrification, China is the most advanced in the world. The Company has strengths in such products as inverters and motor generators. It will showcase its development products and services with a focus on  “safety” and “environment” to contribute to solving social issues in China and provide new social values.
