Acquisition
-The Company announced that it has acquired iOnRoad Technologies, Ltd. Based in Israel, iOnRoad is a development company of vehicle safety systems also known as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including the iOnRoad augmented reality driving application. iOnRoad will strengthen Harman's leadership in global infotainment systems and services for automakers and accelerate the rollout of new ADAS functionalities. -The Company announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Interchain Solution, an India-based company that develops telematics, fleet management, Android based in-vehicle infotainment and location-based solutions. The transaction is expected to close in late August 2012. Interchain's products such as GWVectra and GWTrack telematics solutions will complement Harman's portfolio and also expand the Company's reach to include commercial vehicle makers. -The Company announced its plan to establish a software engineering center in the northern Chicago suburbs, Illinois, the U.S. The company's new engineering center will lead the development of next-generation, connected car infotainment systems and automotive-grade cloud platforms. The infotainment systems will be based on open standards such as Linux and Android, and will offer increased customization through advanced integration both with personal smart devices such as smartphones and tablets, and with the cloud. Product Development
3D surround sound system-The Company unveiled its new QuantumLogic 3D, the three-dimensional surround sound experience based on QuantumLogic technology at the Geneva Motor Show. QuantumLogic 3D accurately identifies and redistributes audio streams (voices, instruments and spatial information) from the music source, and incorporates additional audio streams that are reproduced via overhead speakers.
