-After such difficult times as those prevailing in 2009, when the company saw orders fall by up to 50%, global sales increased by 30% in 2010 to 3.4 billion euros, with strong growth in all product areas. Sales of closure systems and motors went up by 30%, while door systems and seat adjusters increased by up to 40%.
-In line with the continuing high demand and numerous production starts, the company anticipates international sales to rise by approx. 7% to some 3.7 billion euros in 2011. Whereas the European market will remain largely stable, forecasts for the Asian and North American markets predict that sales will increase by 20% and 16% respectively.
Contracts
-Brose Jefferson Inc., which is Brose's subsidiary based in Warren, Michigan, U.S., received the "Supplier Launch Recognition Award" from Chrysler. The award was given in recognition of the high level of development and quality of Brose Jefferson's electric components. The company supplies the products for the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Dodge Durango. (From a press release on October 21, 2010)-The Company has earned Ford Motor Company World Excellence Awards. This is the fourth time in a row that Brose has received the award. Two Gold Awards were presented to the Hallstadt plant in Germany and to the Sta. Margarida plant in Spain. The Saarwelling plant in Germany won a Silver Award. Brose supplies the Ford Group with window regulators, door, seat and closure systems as well as electronics, electric motors, drive train actuators, drives for HVAC blowers and cooling fan modules. -The Company received the "Daimler Supplier Award 2009". The automaker bestowed the supplier with the award in the "Exterior" category of "Cars and Vans" division for its door systems. Brose supplies door systems produced at its plants in Sindelfingen (Germany), Rastatt (Germany), Changchun (China), Brits (South Africa) and Tuscaloosa (Alabama, USA) for all Daimler vehicle models. -In 2010, Shanghai Brose Electric Motors Co., Ltd (SBM) in China equips Citroen's Elysee, C-Quatre, C-Triomphe, C2 and C5 models as well as the Peugeot models 206, 207, 307 and 408 with electric drives. Investment Activities
-In 2010, the Company invested a total of 200 million euros in land and buildings and in expanding its technological expertise. This represents around 6% of the group's sales revenue.
-The company's shareholders and supervisory board agreed to invest the record amount of 300 million euros in 2011 to build and expand new production sites, with 84 million euros to go to Germany, 66 million euros to other European countries and 150 million euros to be spent overseas. As part of the group's worldwide expansion course, 4 new production facilities will begin operating over the next 2 years in Pune/India, Chongqing/China, Togliatti/Russia and Kecskemét/Hungary, and the existing plants in Ostrava/Czech Republic, Tuscaloosa/USA and Querétaro/Mexico will be expanded. In China, the Company plans to set up new headquarters in Shanghai to handle the Asian market.
