Business Highlights

Financial overview

Export

-In 2011, the Company exported products worth more than USD 412 million, surpassing the USD 400 million threshold for the first time in its history. The figure represented a 41.2 percent increase compared to 2010, the largest year-on-year growth achieved by a Chinese auto parts supplier. (From a press release, March 14, 2012) 

Name change

-The Company changed its corporate name to CITIC Dicastal Co., Ltd. effective August 1, 2012. At the same time, the Company's registered address was changed to 185 Longhai Ave., Qinhuangdao Economic & Technological Development Zone, Hebei 066011. The Company's two production facilities in Qinghuangdao changed their names to CITIC Dicastal East Plant and CITIC Dicastal Industrial Park. (From an announcement by the company, July 30, 2012)

New operations

-Chongqing Dicastal Jieli Wheel Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a joint venture between the Company, Chongqing Jieli Wheel Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and a Macao-based investment firm, started production operations after completing the first phase of its plant construction project. The 1 billion yuan joint venture is located at the Xipeng Industrial Park, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. The first phase of the project included three production lines to manufacture aluminum wheels and was expected to bring the plant's annual production capacity to 3.9 million units by the end of 2012. By adding another six production lines in later phases of the project, the Company aims to increase the plant's annual production capacity to between 10 and 12 million units by 2013. This will put the plant in a better position to serve the needs of its customers in western China, which is expected to become one of the largest automotive markets in the country. -The Company started operations on its first aluminum wheel production line at Citic Dicastal Industrial Park in Qinhuangdao in May 2012. The new production line is capable of producing 2 million wheels a year. The Company is now poised to expand its product lineup and become more competitive in the market. -During the Hebei International Trade Investment Meeting held in April 2012, the Company and Qinhuangdao Economic & Technological Development Zone signed an agreement on the Company's additional investment plan in the district. The Company will spend USD 150 million in the second phase of its investment project. The investment will add new production lines to the Company's new plant to manufacture wheels (2 million units annually) and light chassis parts. Awards

-In April 2012, the Company won the Outstanding Contribution to VE Activity Award for 2011 from Daihatsu, as well as the Excellent Supplier Award from Daihatsu Kyushu. Both awards were presented to the company during Daihatsu Motor’s supplier meeting. (From a press release, May 21, 2012)

R&D

R&D Structure

-The Company conducts development activities at its technical center, which was established in February 1993. The technical center has been recognized as a national R&D center by the National Development and Reform Commission since October 2005.

-The Company has established overseas R&D centers in Europe and North America and a technical center in Japan. Due to its overseas technical centers, the Company is the first wheel manufacturer which can provide synchronous development together with global automakers. The Company's synchronous development projects have been extended to 2015.
