Analysis Report: Seats (Japanese Market)
Progress in the development of autonomous driving and environmental measures
List of Suppliers
Introduction
Seats are not only required to provide safety and comfort, but they are also important automotive components that significantly influence the interior design. The construction of the seat can be divided into three major parts: the basic skeleton (frame), the cushioning material, and the seat trim cover. In addition, the frame consists of parts such as the seat back frame (back rest), seat cushion frame, headrest, recliner, adjuster, and seat slide rails. The assembled product is referred to as the seat assembly (ASSY) or complete seat. In the Japanese market, there are about 15 companies which manufacture and deliver seat assemblies, and there are many other suppliers of parts such as seat frames, cushioning materials, and trim cover materials.
This report provides an outline of each company describing their developments in the Japanese market, based on the seat assemblies as finished products, while focusing on those models currently produced domestically in Japan (including some models that had been manufactured until recently).
