Evaluation of China’s NEV System and Development of Core Technologies

Electric drive systems shift focus from individual performance to system capabilities

Summary

The "electronica Shanghai 2026" trade fair was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in early July. There were exhibits by 2,065 companies, attracting 79,026 visitors. The exhibits covered the entire electronics industry chain, including semiconductors, sensors, power management, and connectivity technologies. Special exhibitions and related events focusing on fields such as automotive electronics, AI, energy storage, and embedded AI were also held.

Of the 15 thematic forums held during the conference, the “2026 New Energy Vehicle Three-Electric System Technology Innovation Forum" covered topics such as the evaluation of electric drive systems, battery thermal management, fast charging, motor controls, and insulation systems. Among these presentations, the New Energy Vehicle Inspection Center of CATARC (China Automotive Technology & Research Center) introduced core technologies for evaluating electric drive systems under new technology trends, while Texas Instruments (TI) presented three semiconductor technologies that improve the driving and riding experience of electric vehicles. Furthermore, Huayu Automotive Electric Drive System, a subsidiary of Huayu Automotive Systems, compiled development trends and challenges for New Energy Vehicle drive motor insulation systems. This report summarizes the content of the presentations given at the aforementioned forum.
