Electric vehicle sales volume in October fell compared to the previous month, but increased compared to the same month last year, although growth slowed. EV sales in the U.S. in particular fell sharply, due to the expiration of the federal EV tax credit of up to USD 7,500 at the end of September.
At the U.S.-China summit held at the end of October, it was decided to reduce additional tariffs on both sides, and agreements were also reached that affect the entire automotive industry, such as easing restrictions on rare earth exports from China and taking measures to resume semiconductor exports from the China division of Dutch semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia B.V. (Nexperia). Supply chain risks are affecting manufacturers’ production, and there are concerns that this will have an impact on the supply of electric vehicles.
