Summary

Organized by the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation, hosted by the Guangzhou Institute of Standardization, and co-hosted by Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology Co., Ltd. (XPeng) and the Guangdong Automotive Industry Association, the Mandatory National Standard Interpretation Seminar on Electric Vehicles was held in June 2026 at the Guangzhou XPeng Technology Park. This seminar provided an explanation of the two new mandatory national standards in the electric vehicle sector that went into effect on July 1, 2026: GB 18384-2025 "Electric vehicles safety requirements” and GB 38031-2025 "Electric vehicles traction battery safety requirements". More than 100 industry experts from fields such as finished vehicle manufacturing, drive batteries, and inspection and certification participated. Representatives from XPeng and Guangdong Huitian Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. (XPeng AeroHT) took the stage for the presentations.
This report provides a brief overview of the revisions to the new GB and the key points regarding their implementation.
