Mazda Motor Corporation (Mazda) established MCF Electric Drive Co., Ltd. (MCF Electric Drive), a joint venture with Taiwan's Fukuta Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. (Fukuta) and Chuo Kaseihin Co., Inc. (Chuo Kaseihin), in 2022 to develop advanced technology for automotive motors, and is advancing the development of high power density motors.
This report provides a detailed overview of the Gen2 motor that MCF Electric Drive prototyped in 2024 and the company's development strategy, based on an interview with Mr. Kazunori Hirabayashi, President and CEO of MCF Electric Drive, and Mr. Naoki Itasaka, General Manager of the company's Energy Innovation Department, in charge of motor design (interview conducted on April 24, 2025).
