Emerging Chinese EV automakers XPeng Inc. (XPeng) and Li Auto Inc. (Li Auto) announced their latest technological achievements in the area of smart driving in July 2024.
The latest versions of the AI Tianji system and the XNGP (XPeng Navigation Guided Pilot) smart driving assistance system were presented at the XPeng AI smart driving technology press conference. The AI Tianji system XOS 5.2.0 version has 484 upgraded features for global users. The XNGP advanced driver assistance system has been fully upgraded, going from being "available nationwide" to being "easy to use anywhere in the country." In addition, in August 2024, XPeng launched its AI Hawkeye Visual Solution, which enables an intelligent driving experience equivalent to the LiDAR solution.
Li Auto's 2024 smart driving press conference showcased smart driving products and technologies, including map-free NOA (Navigate on Autopilot), active safety and next-generation autonomous driving systems. Li Auto’s next-generation autonomous driving technology architecture includes an end-to-end (E2E) model of the vehicle, a large-scale vision-language model (VLM), and a cloud reconfiguration + a generative world model.
