March 2022 sales of New Energy Vehicles in China increased 134.5% year-over-year to 454,000 units. 1,018,000 units were sold in the January – March period, up 132.8% y/y over the same period last year.

New Energy Passenger Car sales were up 149.3% y/y to 818,000 units for Chinese automakers, up 126.4% year-over-year to 67,000 units for German automakers, up 101.4% year-over-year to 8,000 units for Japanese automakers, and up 65.2% year-over-year to 121,000 units for US automakers.

In January-March 2022, the top 10 EV passenger car provinces sold a combined total of 584,000 units, accounting for 72.6% of the total EV passenger car market. The top 10 PHV passenger car provinces sold a combined total of 148,000 units, accounting for 69.2% of the PHV passenger car market.
