2026/08/21
Summary
- In July, the global Light Vehicle (LV) selling rate marginally improved versus June, to over 90 mn units/year for the latest month. However, this is still well below the market result last year. YTD sales stand at 50 mn units, down nearly 4% compared to the first seven months of 2025.
- Global LV sales remained relatively soft at a headline level, although improved marginally in selling rate terms as key market, China, saw its selling rate creep up and India posted a record month. Demand in the US remained in slight negative territory YoY, while sales in Western Europe were relatively stable in July. The re-escalation in the Middle East conflict renews concerns about the H2 outlook, though oil prices remain well below the April peak.
