Summary
- The Global Light Vehicle (LV) selling rate for September stood at 88.7 mn units/year, a result largely in line with the previous two months. In year-on-year (YoY) terms, total sales grew by 0.5%, a fairly good result considering the pandemic-induced challenges faced by the industry at present, though results are uneven across the globe.
- The headline figure was helped by positive YoY growth in the US and, particularly, China. Meanwhile, Western Europe experienced a poor month as the selling rate broke its recent upward trajectory. Global sales continued to recover in year-to-date (YTD) terms, yet they still fell 19.4% below last year’s result.
