The Global Light Vehicle (LV) selling rate for September stood at 88.7 mn units/year, a result largely in line with the previous two months. In year-on-year (YoY) terms, total sales grew by 0.5%, a fairly good result considering the pandemic-induced challenges faced by the industry at present, though results are uneven across the globe.
The headline figure was helped by positive YoY growth in the US and, particularly, China. Meanwhile, Western Europe experienced a poor month as the selling rate broke its recent upward trajectory. Global sales continued to recover in year-to-date (YTD) terms, yet they still fell 19.4% below last year’s result.
