- Global Light Vehicle sales grew by 7% year-on-year (YoY) in January; although there were more selling days in January 2018 than in the same month in 2017 in a number of markets. Therefore, the selling rate fell to 94.8 mn units/year, from 95.7 mn units/year in December.
- China was a key contributor to global YoY growth in January, benefitting from additional selling days, while Western Europe delivered a surprisingly strong month, helped by extremely good results in Germany and Spain. North America offered little in the way of YoY growth, but among the smaller regions, Eastern Europe and South America both saw double-digit YoY gains.
