-According to a report by GlobalData as of Q2 2026, global light vehicle sales in 2026 is expected to decrease by 3.2% YoY to 89.36 mn.

-The global LV market outlook has shifted toward negative growth since the Q1 2026 release. Global sales are now forecast to fall to around 89.4 mn vehicles in 2026, down 3% YoY, with factors acting as a drag on the 2026 total including a slowdown in China’s domestic market as well as the impact of the Middle East conflict.
-Most of the forecast reduction globally relates to a darkening outlook for the China market. The China market started 2026 on a weak footing, as changes to trade-in incentives and NEV taxation discount held back sales. However, as 2026 has progressed selling rates have continued to struggle, leading to the China market forecast seeing an average reduction for 2025-30 sales of 2 mn units/year.
