Summary
- In July, the Western European Passenger Vehicle (PV) market grew for a sixth consecutive month as sales reached nearly 1 mn units, up 4.6% year-on-year (YoY). The monthly selling rate cooled slightly from the previous month, at 12.1 mn units/year, while year-to-date (YTD) sales reached 7.4 mn units, up 5.8% YoY.
- The Western European PV market continued to outperform despite broader economic weakness and headwinds from the Middle East conflict. Electrification remained the primary growth driver, led by France. Demand was supported by improving affordability and a wider range of lower-cost models, particularly Chinese imports, alongside government incentives and tax benefits.
- As such, GlobalData has upgraded its 2026 Western European PV forecast to near 12 mn units, up 1.6% from 2025’s full-year result, reflecting stronger actuals despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
