GlobalData European Passenger Car Sales Update (June 2023)

Summary

  • The Western Europe PV selling rate stood at 11.4 mn units/year in June, in line with May. Registrationsfor the latest month totalled 1.1 mn units (+19.6% YoY), the third time this year crossing the 1 mn unitlevel. However, the market is still down 16% from pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
  • France experienced solid growth in June, recording its highest monthly sales figure of the year at 191kunits, with YoY growth of 11.5%. Spain also stood out as it outperformed expectations with 101kregistrations and a growth of 13.3% YoY.
  • Aside from Italy, the top five Western European markets experienced double digit YoY growth for June2023. While 2022 is a weak base of comparison, it is reassuring to see a solid recovery in these countriesas production improves and backlogged orders are met.
