On October 8, Zotye Automobile Co., Ltd. (Zotye Auto) announced that on September 30, according to the result of evaluation and vote, Jiangsu Shenshang Holding Group Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Shenshang) was finally determined as the company's restructuring investor. Shanghai Taiqi Automobile Technology Partnership (limited partnership) and Hunan Zhibo SmartAuto Equity Investment Partnership (limited partnership) were selected as the company's backup candidates for the restructuring investor.
On the same day, the manager of Zotye Auto signed the restructuring investment agreement with Jiangsu Shenshang. Jiangsu Shenshang will invest CNY 2 billion in the restructuring. The restructuring investors recruited this time cannot be determined as the official restructuring investors until the restructuring plan (draft) of Zotye Auto has been approved by the court.
Founded on September 29, 2020, Jiangsu Shenshang mainly engages in investment activities with its own funds, automotive components and accessories wholesaling and retailing, new vehicle sales, and operations of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. It is 100% owned by Shenshang Holding Group Co., Ltd. The goal of the restructuring is to gain the qualification for automobile production, and to produce and sell vehicles.

On February 4, Ford Motor Co. announced it has decided to terminate plans to launch electric vehicle joint ventures with China's Zotye Automobile.
Ford said that its decision was prompted by changes in China's electric-vehicle industry and government policies since the agreements were signed in 2017 and 2018.
In its statement, Ford said it would pursue a more "flexible business model in China" that would see it utilize its existing operations in the country and elsewhere, and build related business centers.
On January 27, Ford said its China joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. would start making all-electric Mustang Mach-E vehicles.
In 2017, Ford and Zotye said that they would invest a combined USD 756 million to set up a 50-50 joint venture in China to build small electric passenger vehicles, and in 2018 said they had signed a memorandum of understanding for another venture that would make electric vehicles for ride-hailing fleets.

On December 24, Zotye Automobile Co., Ltd. (Zotye Auto) announced that its controlling shareholder Tech-new Group Co., Ltd. (Tech-new Group) would go into bankruptcy procedures according to the court's ruling, as Tech-new Group is insolvent and unable to continue its operation with no possibility of rescue.
Zotye Auto indicated that it is operated independently from Tech-new Group in terms of assets, businesses, and finance. Its main businesses are currently suspended, which, however, will have no significant impact upon its daily operations. Changes in the shareholding structure of Zotye Auto may be caused as a result of post-bankruptcy disposition of Tech-new Group.
