On October 30, Mr. Mototaka Taneya, Senior Managing Executive Officer and CTO of Sharp Corporation (Sharp), took the stage at a press briefing at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 (Press days: October 29-30, Public days: October 31-November 9) held at Tokyo Big Sight to unveil the second electric vehicle (EV) concept model, LDK+, for the first time.
The LDK+ was developed by Sharp based on the “Model A” EV by the Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn). The second model keeps the concept the same, but combines a maneuverable, compact body with a spacious interior. Sharp provides a new living space by utilizing the home appliance technology and AI technology (CE-LLM) that it has cultivated.
Sharp developed the LDK+ based on the idea of making effective use of the time spent parked. The goal is to evolve from the "Park at your home" concept of parking the car at home to a "Part of your home" concept of making the car an extension of the living room.
The LDK+ incorporates various Sharp technologies and provides a comfortable space with a driver's seat that rotates 180 degrees, a high-definition projector, and air conditioning. Mr. Taneya noted that while parked, the LDK+ becomes an enclosed, air-conditioned space that can be used in a variety of ways, such as when a quiet environment is needed for remote work, for example, or when making noise, such as for musical instrument practice.
・Sharp aims to commercialize the LDK+ in FY2027. Regarding the price range, Mr. Taneya said, "We would like to aim for the same level as existing internal combustion engine (ICE) family cars."
・Mr. Jun Seki, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Hon Hai's EV business, sent a message in a short video, saying that he was surprised and intrigued by Mr. Taneya's vision of creating an EV that focuses on the time when the car is parked, and promised to support the project.
