On August 19, the Business Roundtable, composed of the heads of 181 companies, including General Motors and Ford Motor Co., as well as companies such as Apple, AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, Coca Cola and Procter & Gamble, signed a statement abandoning the long-held view that shareholders’ interests come first.
