Tesla cutting workforce 7% to produce lower-priced Model 3, expects small Q4 profit
On January 18, Tesla CEO Elon Musk sent an email to his employees saying that reaching efficiencies needed to produce a lower-priced variant of the Model 3 will require a full-time employee headcount reduction of approximately 7%, or 3,000 workers, as the company had already grown by 30% in 2018 to 45,000 workers.
