Honda’s flooded plant in Celaya, Mexico still closed, though water is drained

Almost two weeks after the flooding at the Honda assembly plant in Celaya, Mexico, local authorities reported that the drainage work has been completed, although there is still no set date for the resumption of operations.
The water level reportedly reached 1.5 feet in depth in some areas of the plant, causing damage to robots, machinery and equipment.
Due to the level of damage, rehabilitation work will be carried out throughout the month of July and beginning of August.
The Celaya plant, opened in 2014, produces the Fit hatchback and HR-V crossover, as well as transmissions, and has an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles.
