Renault increases production of Kwid in Brazil

On February 8, Renault announced that accelerated production of the Kwid, which began in January, will make delivery of 10,000 units possible by the end of February.
The accelerated production plan was necessary to reduce the waiting time after purchase to less than the 40 days previously required.
The delivery time had been one of the most frequent criticisms of Kwid customers since the model’s launch in August 2017.
The Brazilian consumer protection agency Procon has noted that many customers had cancelled their orders because of the wait time.
The fact that a portion of the vehicles produced had generated three recall campaigns, two in 2017 and one in 2018, was also cited as a factor in purchase cancellations.
Newly accelerated Kwid production is due also to the increase in sales in Argentina and Uruguay.
Renault shipped 8,300 units to the two countries from August to January.
Renault had hired 600 employees and began a third shift at the Curitiba plant in Sao Jose dos Pinhais in October.
According to data cited by Fenabrave, 25,305 Kwids were sold in the Brazilian market within the first six months of its launch.
