Nissan to expand engine variations for e-Power hybrid system

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. will build a structure that allows its e-Power series hybrid system to be compatible with a range of car classes from compact vehicles to luxury sedans. The automaker will achieve this by equipping the e-Power system in various engines and adjusting the numbers of lithium-ion batteries and motors. The company intends to reduce its costs for batteries and motors by increasing the number of models that are equipped with the e-Power system. Nissan will efficiently increase the number of e-Power-driven models by adopting a method of designing a combination of basic units in accordance with the size of the vehicle. At the same time, the company will expand the lineup of engines designed for the e-Power system and increase the range of variations of the system. The company will design engines for its middle to high-end class models in addition to the present 1.2-liter engine for the Note e-power. The e-Power hybrid system will be made compatible with cars of various sizes by incorporating the numbers of motors and batteries that are adjusted in accordance with the size of the vehicle.
