Indian new vehicle sales increased by 14.9% in July, 2017

Sales in July 2017 were up 14.9% y/y to 357,997 units versus 311,573 units in July 2016.

PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 15.1% to 298,997 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 13.8% to 59,000 units.

By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 8.5% to 192,773 units versus 177,639 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were also up 35.5% to 86,874 units. Vans sales were up 7.6% to 19,350 units.

Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 6.7% to 22,730 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 18.7% to 36,270 units.

Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 22.4% and Hyundai was up 4.4%. Tata Motors was up 13% and Mahindra sales were up 13% in July 2017.
