July sales in China: all four Japanese OEMs keep y/y increases

By August 4, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and Mazda announced their sales results in China for July 2017. Sales at all four companies increased year-over-year (y/y), with Nissan, Toyota and Honda achieving double-digit increases. Honda regained the top July sales ranking among Japanese automakers.
Nissan announced that it sold 104,794 vehicles in China, which was a 14.2% rise y/y contributed by strong sales of Teana, Sylphy, X-Trail, Qashqai and Murano. The company’s year-to-date (YTD) sales from January reached 755,319 vehicles, up 7.6% y/y.
Toyota sold approximately 108,900 vehicles, a 11.4% increase y/y. The automaker enjoyed strong sales of models including the Corolla and Levin. Toyota’s YTD sales reached 732,900 vehicles, up 6.2% y/y.
On August 2, Honda announced the record July sales at 113,803 vehicles in China, which was a y/y increase of 11.6%. By model, strong sales of the Civic, Elysion, Jade and XR-V contributed to sales growth. Honda’s YTD sales reached 757,970 units, up 17.6% y/y.
On August 4, Mazda announced that the sales for the month in China at 23,028 units, growth of 7.1% y/y. Sales increased thanks to strong demand for CX-4 and Mazda3 Axera. The automaker’s YTD sales reached a record high of 158,568 units, up 14.1% y/y.
