May vehicle sales in Thailand up 0.6%, May production up 0.7%

According to MarkLines Data Center, May vehicle sales in Thailand increased 0.6% year on year to 66,422 units.
By brand sales in May, Toyota was down 19.6% to17,884 units. Isuzu was down 4.7% to 12,156 units and Honda was up 2.0% to 10,011 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 20.7% to 5,158 units, and Nissan sales were up 23.1% to 4,748 units.
By body type, passenger car sales were up 4.4% year over year to 26,151 units, while commercial vehicle sales were dowm 1.7% to 40,271 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were down 3.7% to 32,317 units. The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) said that domestic sales in May increased on the back of the recovery of Thai economy, increased exports of agricultural products, and launches of new SUV models.
Vehicle sales from January to May stood at 340,179 units, up 12.4%.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in May was 169,495 units, a 0.7% increase year on year and a 40.7% increase month on month. The total value of vehicle exports were at THB 48.0 billion, declined 12.7% from May 2016.
