Indonesian sales up 8.3% in March

Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in March were 101,872 units up 8.3% year over year. It was the 12th consecutive month of increases.
January - March sales were up 6.0% to 283,245 units.
By automaker sales in March, Toyota was up 28.9% y/y to 38,656 units and Honda was down 3.1% to 19,838 units. Daihatsu was up 11.3% to 16,149 units. Suzuki was up 0.3% to 9,125 units. Mitsubishi was down 5.2% to 8,868 units.
Toyota and Daihatsu sales were very strong with recently launched new MPV models.
In March, sales of commercial vehicle manufactures such as Hino, Isuzu, and UD Trucks surged owing to infrastructure projects and rising prices of commodities.
