About This Interview
MarkLines interviewed Dr. Håkan Sandquist, Director Strategy and CEO Office at InfiMotion Technology Europe, at IAA Transportation 2026.
InfiMotion is an electric-drive supplier with ties to Geely. While business with the Geely Holding Group remains one of its key foundations, the company has been expanding its customer base among European OEMs outside the Group. The roughly even split in its European order book between Geely Holding Group-related business and other European OEMs reflects this diversification.
Beyond supplying individual components, InfiMotion is also a technology partner combining e-drive hardware, software and system-integration capabilities. The company is leveraging its passenger-car e-drive expertise and manufacturing scale to expand into commercial vehicles. In Europe, one LCV application is already in production, and another is under development for a European OEM, while commercial-vehicle programs represent about one quarter of its nearly RMB 20 billion European long-term order book.

About This Interview
-
Q1What is the most important message InfiMotion Technology wants European commercial-vehicle OEMs to take away from IAA Transportation 2026? And among the products and technologies you are presenting here, which ones are already linked to series-production programs?
-
Q2InfiMotion says it sees potential across the complete commercial-vehicle segment and has already proven its model with light-duty commercial customers. In Europe, where do you expect the first significant series-production volumes to come from vans and light-duty vehicles, or medium- and heavy-duty trucks?
-
Q3Have you already secured any customer nominations or sourcing awards from European OEMs for commercial-vehicle applications?
-
Q4InfiMotion has announced nearly RMB 20 billion in long-term contracts with automotive brands in the UK, France, and Germany. To what extent does this European order book come from OEMs outside the Geely Holding Group? Can you tell us anything more about the customers or vehicle programs that have not yet been publicly identified?
-
Q5Roughly how is this European business split between passenger-car and commercial vehicle programs?
-
Q6Does the RMB 20 billion represent the contracted lifetime value of formally awarded series-production programs? And what is the earliest SOP among them?
-
Q7InfiMotion says it is applying technologies proven in passenger cars to commercial vehicles, including heavy-duty applications. Which parts of the passenger-car e-drive architecture can be transferred directly, and which require substantial adaptation or redesign for commercial-vehicle duty cycles?
-
Q8How do requirements such as continuous power, thermal management, durability, serviceability, and vehicle uptime affect the optimal level of integration?
-
Q9InfiMotion says it is exploring future localization in Europe with its partners. What would trigger an actual investment decision—customer volume, OEM localization requirements, logistics costs, regulation, or supply-chain resilience? And what would localization mean in practice: final assembly of e-drive systems, local production of motors and inverters, or a broader European manufacturing footprint?
-
Q10Ahead of IAA Transportation, InfiMotion announced its entry into the European EV charging market with the IPC320. Why does it make strategic sense for an e-drive supplier to enter charging now? Do you see charging as a significant standalone business for InfiMotion in Europe, or primarily as part of a broader integrated offering to OEM and fleet customers?
-
Q11In your recent presentation, you mentioned X-in-1 integration reaching up to 16-in-1. Were you referring to an InfiMotion production program? If so, what can you tell us about the SOP timing, vehicle application, and customer?
