The motor controller weighs 40% less than its predecessor, reducing overall size by 30% and increasing power density by 25%. -The switch design eliminates wire bonds. The complex wiring network provides a path for current to flow through the switch, by connecting the motor controller to the battery and motor. The wire bond process is eliminated in favor of solder interconnects to enhance durability. -Silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs are used. SiC devices have a conduction voltage drop two to three times lower than Si, and a breakdown electric field ten times that of Si. They also have high thermal conductivity and excellent high-temperature stability.
