Together with ADASKY, Gentex developed a Full Display Mirror (FDM) system that includes thermal imaging to improve driver visibility and safety. The mirror replaces the traditional rearview mirror with a digital screen showing a live feed from a rear camera, offering a wider and clearer view. ADASKY contributes its advanced thermal cameras and detection software, which allow the system to detect heat signatures from people, animals, and vehicles—even in darkness or poor weather.

This device projects an image onto the door panel by projecting a laser beam from the bottom of the mirror. The light source and projection unit are separate, with the light source installed under the door panel. The image emitted from the light source passes through optical fiber and is projected onto the door panel from the projection unit. The image projected onto the window is projected from the projection unit at the top left of the door panel. The projection device at the bottom of the mirror can also be built into the mirror.
By adopting the TFT (Thin Film Transistor) method, a wide angle of view is achieved despite the small image generation unit. It is also capable of displaying images as vivid as a mainstream DMD (Digital Micro Mirror Device) method.
