Global electrified vehicle (xEV) sales in April 2026 totaled 1.776 million units, down 1.6% year-on-year. xEVs accounted for 36.1% of total vehicle sales. BEV sales continue to decline in the United States, prompting automakers to review and revise their powertrain strategies.
Supply chain: Audi Q5 (USA)
The Audi Q5 is a five-seat midsize crossover SUV (the high-performance SQ5 is an SUV coupe). It is manufactured at the San Jose Chiapa plant in Mexico. Based on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) platform, the Q5 is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, while the SQ5 features a 3.0L V6 turbocharged engine. Many key components are sourced from major European, American, and Japanese companies with operations in Mexico. For example, lighting systems are supplied by Marelli, telematics by HARMAN, and some sensors by Hella - all through their respective Mexican facilities.
