European light vehicle production and sales decouple as Chinese imports take off
Statistics
- Malaysian February sales fall 19.4%, with factors including fewer business days due to the Chinese New Year holiday and the high sales levels of the previous year. Perodua, Toyota, and Honda all see significant year-on-year declines.
- Japanese production down 1.3% in February. Toyota and Suzuki cut production due to declining domestic demand, shifts to overseas production, and adjustments to production plans, while other manufacturers see year-on-year increases.
- US production falls 0.3% in February, weighed down by economic uncertainty and reduced EV subsidies, but positive factors such as the easing of production constraints and progress in inventory adjustments keep production relatively stable.
