On May 8, Lyten, a lithium-sulfur battery technology company, announced it has begun shipping A samples of its lithium-sulfur (Li-S) pouch cells to Stellantis and other leading US and EU automotive OEMs for commercial evaluation and adoption.
The Li-S has the potential to hold more than two times the energy density of lithium-ion. The company produces Li-S cells in pouch and cylindrical format and plans to deliver cylindrical A samples for evaluation in 2024.
The company produces Li-S A samples at its automated pilot line in San Jose, California. The San Jose production line will also deliver B samples for Auto OEMs and commercial cells for non-EV customers. The company is also designing its first large-scale facility to produce automotive C samples and beyond.
