On May 8, Hycan announced the official shipping of the first GAC Hycan export vehicles from Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

These export vehicles include the Hycan V09 luxury battery electric MPV, the Hycan A06 Plus battery electric sedan, and the Hycan Z03 compact battery electric SUV.

GAC Hycan has expanded its presence to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and other markets outside China so far, aiming to become an international New Energy Vehicle brand.

On May 8, NIO and GAC Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement on charging and battery swapping in Guangzhou, Guangdong.

According to the agreement, the two parties will promote the establishment of a unified system for battery standards, develop battery-swappable passenger vehicles and battery swapping stations compatible with both parties’ battery swapping systems, facilitate the launch of battery-swappable models with a battery pack built to unified standards both parties endorse, and advance the application of battery swapping solutions serving models from both parties.

Furthermore, the two parties will promote the interconnection between battery swapping operation networks and suppliers, boost the establishment of a unified system for battery swapping operation and management, build a larger-scale standard and unified energy infrastructure network, create a lifecycle management system for power batteries, and establish an efficient battery asset management platform and operations mechanism.

For cooperation on charging platforms, the two parties will leverage their respective charging facilities to achieve interoperability of dynamic data from the platforms. By the end of May, their charging facilities will be interconnected, enabling users to enjoy a range of charging services via charging maps in the corresponding APPs, WeChat Mini Programs, and in-vehicle systems.

On May 7, GAC Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (GAC Energy) announced the recent official registration and establishment of GAC Energy Technology (Hunan) Co., Ltd. (GAC Energy Hunan). This marks the accomplishment of another GAC Group strategic deployment in Hunan after the Changsha settlement of the GAC Aion No.3 Plant project.

Breaking ground in November 2023, the GAC Aion Changsha Plant is expected to reach mass production in June 2024, with a standard annual capacity of 200,000 units for the first phase. GAC Energy Hunan will coordinate with the plant’s sales promotion plan to expand its scale and layout, aiming to build 300 charging stations in 3 years. The company will build an energy replenishment network integrating “photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, charging, and battery swapping” and develop business models such as R&D of related technologies, establishment of digital platforms, expansion of energy trading, and consumption of green electricity to establish an energy replenishment network with V2G (Vehicle to Grid) at the core and an intelligent energy ecosystem.
