Accelera, the zero-emissions business segment of Cummins Inc. (Cummins), signed a letter of intent (LOI) with BMC Otomotiv, a Turkish manufacturer of buses and trucks, to provide battery solutions for its bus operations. The partnership marks the debut of Accelera's BP97E nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack in Europe.

The BP97E's 97 kWh single-pack storage capacity, patented platform design, and flexible mounting simplify integration into electric buses and other applications. The BP97E packs allow Transit agencies to customize energy levels up to 582 kWh with a six-pack battery configuration, ensuring efficient, reliable, and sustainable transportation for passengers.

The project is already underway, with the batteries expected to be delivered in H1 2024. The buses will be sold in Turkey with deliveries scheduled in 2025.
