On May 7, Syensqo introduced an extension of its Ajedium Films lineup, designed to replace traditional paper slot liners in electric motors up to 400V. The company will showcase the new Ajedium PPSU slot liner films at the global Coil Winding, Insulation & Electrical Manufacturing Exhibition (CWIEME) in Berlin, Germany.

The extended films enable manufacturers to reduce slot liner thickness by over 42%, use less energy during manufacturing, and offer optional grades with ISCC Plus mass balance certified circular feedstock, further reducing carbon footprint. The company offers advanced slot liner material solutions across the entire power range from below 400V to above 800V.

On May 7, Umicore signed a second 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Gasum, a Finland-based energy company, to source renewable electricity for its site in Kokkola, Finland. The Kokkola facility is where Umicore refines cobalt and produces precursor cathode active materials for electric vehicle batteries.

Under the agreement, Gasum will supply Umicore with approximately 35 GWh of certified renewable electricity annually until 2035, from a non-subsidized onshore wind farm located in Finland, which commenced operations in December 2023.

On May 6, Irizar secured a framework agreement from De Lijn, a Flemish Region public transport company of Belgium. Irizar will provide up to 100 electric tram buses for premium public transport services. Irizar e-mobility stood as the key player among the nine participants in the tender.

The vehicles will be used for special projects, such as the Spartacus project in Limburg and the BRT project in Kortrijk.
