Malaysia revises rules for CBU electric vehicle imports effective July 1
Announced on May 6, 2026, Malaysia’s imports of fully assembled electric vehicles (CBU EVs) under the Franchise AP scheme will be subject to 2 main conditions from July 1, including a minimum Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value of RM200,000 and a revised motor output threshold of 180 kW, down from 200 kW.
