JMS 2023: MMC holds world premiere of D:X Concept, an electric MPV concept car

・Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) held a press briefing at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 (JMS 2023) at Tokyo Big Sight, where Mr. Takao Kato, President and Chief Executive Officer, took the stage to announce the global unveiling of the Mitsubishi D:X Concept concept car.

・The MITSUBISHI D:X Concept is an electric crossover MPV concept model inspired by the future Delica. The powertrain is a plug-in hybrid (PHV) system that uses Mitsubishi's proprietary electrification technology.

・The electric 4WD system features S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control), which provides integrated control of running, turning, and stopping, and delivers a passenger car-like ride despite the one-box vehicle's height. It is also equipped with voice interactive AI concierge and other functions to make driving more comfortable and enjoyable. The styling is a tough and robust one-box type, inheriting and evolving from the current design concept.

・Mitsubishi Motors also unveiled its new pickup truck, the Triton, for the first time in Japan. The model, in which some specifications have already been launched in Thailand, is planned to be rolled out globally in phases. In Japan, the company plans to start sales in early 2024, which will be the first time in about 12 years that the model will be sold in Japan.

・The new Triton adopts a newly developed frame with enhanced durability and reliability based on the product concept of "Power for Adventure" as well as a newly redesigned chassis. It is equipped with a newly developed clean diesel engine that balances dynamic and environmental performance at a high level.
