By November 6, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and Mazda announced their sales results in China for October 2017. Sales at all four companies increased year-over-year (y/y), with Nissan, Toyota and Honda achieving double-digit increases. Nissan gained the top October sales ranking among Japanese automakers.
Nissan announced on November 3 that it sold 150,271 vehicles in China, which was a 18.2% rise y/y contributed by strong sales of Teana, Sylphy, X-Trail, Qashqai, Murano, Tiida, Venucia T70 and T90. The company’s year-to-date (YTD) sales from January reached 1,170,033 vehicles, up 10.8% y/y.
Toyota sold approximately 112,700 vehicles, a 13.5% increase y/y. The automaker enjoyed strong sales of models including the Corolla, Highlander and Levin. Toyota’s YTD sales reached 1,073,000 vehicles, up 8.5% y/y.
On November 2, Honda announced the record October sales at 132,807 vehicles in China, which was a y/y increase of 14.5%. By model, strong sales of the Civic, Elysion and Jade and firm sales of Crider and CR-V contributed to sales growth. Honda’s YTD sales reached 1,159,141 units, up 17.3% y/y.
On November 2, Mazda announced that the sales for the month in China were 29,276 units, growth of 4.0% y/y. Sales increased thanks to strong demand for the models equipped with Skyactiv Technology including the Mazda3 Axela. The automaker’s YTD sales reached a record high of 242,842 units, up 10.5% y/y.
